Plasma Pen Aesthetic Treatment

How Plasma Pen works

Plasma Pen is a next generation treatment able to treat practically any area of the skin with incredible precision. As we age our dermal layer thins, less collagen is produced, elastin fibres wear out and these changes in the scaffolding of our skin cause it to wrinkle and sag and to lose laxity and texture. The pen converts electrical energy into electrostatic energy which is transmitted to the probe by impulse and sustained by the unique fingertip and on-demand control of plasma.

With Plasma Pen then, first, we contract the epidermis and encourage it to generate fresh, beautiful new skin cells at the surface which leads to incredible skin tightening, lift and rejuvenation. Next, by targeting fibroblasts in the dermis, we kickstart the process of collagen production, alignment and cross linking and this reduces lines and wrinkles by inflating, plumping and lifting your skin from below. Plasma Pen helps re-shape, re-build & strengthen the scaffolding within your dermis to give it back elasticity & flexibility and we actually prevent some of the negative behaviours that cause wrinkles.

How soon can I see results?

Plasma Pen is the gift that keeps giving because we achieve immediate results and those results improve significantly over the coming months. Effects last around 3 years although many results are permanent. In some cases more than one treatment is needed and these must be at least 12 weeks apart.

Is Plasma Pen treatment painful?

We don’t think so. For many, Plasma Pen is virtually a pain-free treatment and is often described as merely tingly. However, the treatment may be moderately uncomfortable depending on you and where you are being treated. Eyelid procedures (where the skin is at its thinnest) can be more painful for some people but our device, plasma delivery and super-fine probes allow our technicians to work very quickly and efficiently and this minimises potential discomfort for you by design.

Your technician will numb the area before treatment and sometimes during too depending on the products they use and the regulations in this area. For treatments on large areas, technicians will typically “numb as they go” so that the numbing effects don’t wear off while they are still working. It’s all relative too – think how painful something like cosmetic surgery can be after a procedure when your anaesthetic wears off.

Can Plasma Pen treat all skin types?

For full Plasma Pen treatment we only treat skin types 1 to 3 on the Fitzpatrick scale. Your technician will be able to determine precisely what skin type you are and will likely use one of our professional Skin Type Sensors. Treating anyone with darker skin than this with full treatment is putting clients at risk of pigmentation. The reason for this is that people with darker skins have melanocytes capable of making large amounts of melanin. When black skin is injured, for example, the melanocytes will usually either hyperpigment or hypopigment. Dark skinned people have a greater risk of forming keloid and hypertrophic scars too.
